Diary 2nd August 2007

Image of the railings
The railings on the east side (image taken 26th June 2007) were
removed and taken away to be restored. They were found
to be in good condition.

The simple brick foundations for the railings
The railings were laid on a very simple brick foundation

The remains of a mesh that was once fixed into the joint of the stone work
On the south elevation between the joints of the stone work is a
long line of what like looks like rusty nails. An early image of the
Monument shows railings on this side with a wire mesh on the
top fixed into the joint of the stone work.
