The last few steps are now ready to have the new stone inserts fitted

The new tread is carefully laid into position
The new steps are positioned carefully by hand
The excess bedding compound is trowelled off
The bedding mortar is cleaned off with a sponge and clean water
Now that the scaffold is gone work is underway to remove the concrete bases that the scaffold has stood on. Repairs will then be carried out to the lower areas of the stonework

The turnstile niche on the north wall is being prepared for a lime render repair
The concrete bases are being carefully broken up and removed
